My personal 1998 328i e36. I built this car with the intention of keeping it pretty long term, as the e36 chassis is one of my favorites from BMW. Things change as we all know, and it doesn't really fit anymore. This car has been daily driven for a while and is pretty well sorted out. The details of what has gone into it are below.
The car started life with an auto trans and lived that way to 200k miles. Was pretty well taken care of, and had zero rust in it. I sourced an M3 S52 engine with roughly 120k miles, pulled the head and had that redone. Rebuilt the vanos unit. All new gaskets. Deleted the secondary air pump, the traction control throttle body, added an M50 intake manifold, custom catch can setup, and did new hoses, pulleys, whole power steering setup including a Z3 steering rack, and other wear items while it was out. The DME got an off the shelf tune with a little modification. Behind it went an M3 zf 320z 5 speed transmission, new sachs clutch kit, JB racing lightweight flywheel, and new hydraulics. Driveshaft got redone, and then a 3.23 LSD diff was put in the rear end. Suspension has been completely redone with all new bushings and ball joints, as well as new coilovers. Up front it has M3 knuckles, completely refreshed M3 brakes and stainless lines, and out back it was converted to e46 vented rear rotors and calipers. Outside, the car was previously repainted, so while it has a few blemishes, the car looks great and shines. It has new headlights, aftermarket M3 front bumper, m3 door trims, a dealer add on rear decklid spoiler came on the car and I liked it, e46 sport style 68 wheels with 12mm spacers (same size and offset as e36 M3), but is otherwise stock. On the interior, it was in overall good condition, but a few things were changed. The most noticeable are a rare set of full black Z3M bucket seats that are in very good original shape. The headliner and rear shelf were recovered in factory style fabric. Gauges were swapped to a z3m set, but chassis mileage was retained. It has an aftermarket radio, and a full set of Bavsound speakers. Rear seats were swapped to a good condition set off an M3 sedan. Shifter setup is a modified and adjustable height z3 setup, with aftermarket knob and boot. A good condition M3 steering wheel, and a fresh set of black M3 mats finish the inside off.
There are a bunch of other minor things, maintenance stuff like new window regulators, heater valve, regular e36 stuff that has all been done. The car is solid, and is a joy to drive. I always loved the sound of these engines, and this one is no exception. If you have any questions please reach out and I would be happy to answer.
